Anthony Bourdain - We love this show!

Page and I have been watching Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel...it is a great show! I prefer the episodes that show other countries...instead of the ones about America. I know that is sad...because last night he featured "Alice Cooperstown Restaurant"- Located in downtown Phoenix, this sports bar/shrine to shock-rocker Alice Cooper is known for kick-ass music and a notorious menu item called the "Big Unit." Which is a really large hot dog...named for the baseball player/co-owner. The episodes that feature other countries (and some US cities) give a glimpse of people and how they live...all based on the food they eat. From his blog: "Normally it's the foreign food that best captures our host's attention. In the world of a cook, an understanding and appreciation of how others eat is akin to discovering secret societies and cryptic subcultures. Cooks have special access. As always, the food is only the first glimpse of a wider view of how people live their lives in faraway lands and unfamiliar territories." It is interesting to watch and very entertaining! If you have time on Monday night...watch the travel channel!

If you host it...they will come! RH Music Fest - 1000 people in McCoy

Jennifer and Gary P Nunn

We had an awesome festival in McCoy on Saturday! Close to 1000 people in attendance! It was great music all day...and lots of money made for the scholarship fund. Rodney and Shenna were like "Johnny and June" on stage between acts giving out raffle prizes and Rodney introduced each band. We were pretty exhausted on Sunday.
At the end of the day Rodney gave away a guitar signed by all of the musicians that played at the festival...

My dad is coming for the weekend!

Dad will be here this afternoon to spend the weekend with us! He is coming for Rodney's music festival...(which is becoming a sort of family reunion)! My cousin, David will stay with us too...so it should be fun.

Page is helping to move a bunch of picnic tables this evening...and we will all be going out to McCoy to help set up everything for tomorrow.

Shenna (my sis-in-law) had her dad build the coolest washer boards for the "Rodney Hayden Washer Tournament" - he made a set for us and even branded "RH Music Fest '08" on the end!

Well, I am off to pick up donated prizes for the raffle we are doing to benefit the "Laquita Hayden Memorial Scholarship"

Have a great day!

Rodney's Music Festival

We are getting ready for the weekend festivities! Rodney is hosting his first music festival! It should be a blast...he has music scheduled non-stop from noon until midnight!
We are also trying to get donations for the Laquita Hayden Memorial Scholarship...which will go to a student in Atascosa County beginning with the Class of 2009.
I will post pictures after the festival...

In Memory of my mom: Laquita Hayden

I have never written a blog before...this is my first attempt. For those of you that didn't know - my mom passed away very suddenly last September. It was a very shocking and tragic event for our whole family. I am only 35 and my mom was a young mother...she passed away one month after her 55th birthday.

I woke up this morning thinking of my mom...and I thought I would post a few photos of some great memories. My brother (Rodney Hayden...country music singer
http://www.rodneyhayden.com/ ) is having his first music festival this weekend. My mom would have been so excited to be a part of this special day! I guess that is one of the reasons I wanted to pay tribute to her today. She is going to be there with us on Saturday in spirit. Rodney wrote a song for her that will be on his new album...that will be debuted this weekend. We were the closest family...and we owe so much to mom! She was sweet, caring, and would have given her last dime to someone in need.

We love and miss you mom!

Jen
